In an after race change, Simon Smith claims the final point after the disqualification of Marko Buhin. This moves Smith to 29th overall. What it also does is completely trash the season’s goals of qualifying for five GP.
“I’m ecstatic for my second point of the season. It was much deserved after a great race in Turkey and just missing out. Here again I was on the pace but thought lady luck had deserted me once again.” Simon now has new goals for the rest of 2009. “I’m going to make a bold statement. I’d like to be in the top 26 drivers by the end of the season in the championship. That way it’d feel like I’ve really deserved my place on the grid and that I can really hold my own! It will be a hard second half of the season but there’s some of my favourite tracks still to come and I hope to keep improving little by little and perhaps we can get there.”
