Kantzouras Leads the BMB Way In FSR!

Kostas Kantzouras continues to rake in the point scoring finishes over at FSR following a detirmined drive to 17th at the FSR German GP at Hockenhiem. The points gave the Deletraz BMB team a welcome boost. Kostas has now been joined full time by his friend and teammate Kerkar Abdelaziz whom unfortunately retired with engine failure on lap 7.

What the result has done is pushed Kantzouras, whom has recently returned to racing following off track problems, up into 30th in the championship with 34 points, just 9 points shine of top BMB scorer Rando Muru, who is currently taking a break from FSR. Abdelaziz currently sits 49th with 10 points.

“It’s great to see my guys fighting in the face of adversity and getting away with it” said teamboss Smith. “Although FSR has not been our focus in 2010, its been fantastic to see Kostas and Kerkar work together and show true team spirit. I’m really proud of them and would gladly have them on my team anyday.”

Over in the lower Trophy series, Roslan Gaidargi sits equal 41st with 18 points.

BMB News Round-Up

Apologies for the delay, but BackMarker Brigade has been a busy snail of late!

The news begins over at GRC where Simon Smith led the team home in both the sprint and feature races at Trois Riviere to claim his season best 10th and 9th places respectively. Paul Huggett claimed a great 14th in the sprint race while Gary Gray claimed a 13th in the feature race. All three drivers performed to their best round the tight Canadian street circuits and now sit 16th (Smith), 24th (Huggett) and 26th (Gray) in the standings as we move to Watkins Glen for the final round.

On the subject of GRC, BackMarker Brigade signed Scott Juliano to the team for Season 9 of the touring cars and for all the cup races, as well as seeing GPO driver Myles Dixon make his debut in the GRC Cup races this week too. Hans Bauer should also be starring in the upcoming GRC Endurance event too adding more new flair and fun to the team.

Grand Prix Online too continues to see great progress for the team! Alex Cooper lead the team home in the Turkish GP for 8th place and several points, just ahead of teammate Simon Smith taking 9th and two more vital points, both drivers maintaining their 100% points finishing record, Smith joint holding the leagure record for having a 100% finishing record and points finishing record! Maurice Willems was on course for points when he had to make an unscheduled pitstop which dropped him to 12th for the flag. Maurice Zondag crashed out with 13 laps to go from what looked like a certain 7th while Craig Johnston was centre of controversy when he was in the middle of a huge accident at turn 1, from which his car was so damaged it left it virtually undriveable and the young Brit parked it. The team will be welcoming Lee Palmer to the full distance challenge event from next round to race alongside Jordon Norwood who was not available for the Turkish GP.

Over at Race Department, our LeMans team didn’t even get off the starting line when ISP problems prevented Johnston taking the start and Jamie Rush was stuck in a driving lesson (oh the irony). However Bob Luneski upheld snail pride with his run to 12th at the FPWS Semi-Pro Turkish GP with another excellent drive. Bob is slowly moving up the championship standings to 17th, with BMB now 9th in the team standings. We are still last however in the Pro divison, so thank god for that!

Formula Sim Racing is last but not least in our news round up which is a celebration as Kostas Kantzouras drove a superb race to qualify for the first time for the main World Series race and then come home a fantastic 14th 2 laps adrift. In World Trophy Benjamin Chong drove his last race for the team before moving on to his new team venture and came home a great 15th. Teammate Roslan Gaidargi also qualified for the main race of WT but then failed to make it round the opening lap, but it was great to see his progress!
What a busy week for Meep!!!

[FSR] Muru Leads BMB Struggle At Monaco

Rando Muru led the BackMarker Brigade team in Monaco, as the difficult track took its toll on the drivers. Muru was the only BMB driver to qualify for the race and was on for points when an accident with 19 laps remaining took him out of the race.

It was a stark contrast to Spain where Muru had driven superbly to come home 17th in the World Series, only a lap adrift of the winner in one of the closest races in FSR’s history. Kostas Kantzouras unfortunately crashed out of the Grid 2 race while on for points. Benjamin Chong made his BMB debut in World Trophy and scored a single point on debut with 8th in the Grid 2 event despite blowing his engine up with 3 laps to go. Craig Johnston was disconnected with 17 laps to go after a strong race.

“The last two races have had differing fortunes” said team boss Simon Smith. “However, that is the nature of the beast. We take the rough with the smooth and I have such unwavering faith in my guys that I know we’ll be back to our scoring ways again next round. You can’t keep a good snail down!”

Muru Continues Points Haul In FSR

Rando Muru ran to 12th place and another big points haul for BackMarker Brigade in FSR’s World Series. Muru’s performances have been quiclly gaining pace and this was his best of 2010 yet in FSR, only just being lapped. This places Rando a fantastic equal 10th in the drivers standings and places BMB a dizzy 12th of 24 teams!

Kostas Kantzouras and Kerkar Abdelaziz continue to do us proud in Deletraz BMB with Kostas so far scoring four points. Currently he is not racing while he attends a family matter and we wish him a very speedy return to us and give him the best of support.

In World Trophy Craig Johnston was classified 8th in the non qualifies race and therefore picked up a point. Eurico Marques will be joining the team in time for the European season and we give him a warm welcome to our camp!

Muru Leads Team To Points In FSR

Rando Muru drove a fantastic, gritty race on saturday to take 10 points home with him at FSR’s Australian GP. Muru became the first driver from BackMarker Brigade to make it into the top grid of FSR’s new two grid system and came home 15th after providing  a whole race of entertainment for the viewers.

Muru barely scrapped into the top grid in the bizarre split grid championship, however he made the most of a great start and moved up to the midfield where he spent the entire race battling in a four car train, finally dispatching of race rival Clayton Nelmes to take 15th. The result catapults Muru to 13th overall in the championship.

In grid 2, BackMarker Brigade continued to gain momentum. Kostas Kantzouras continued to show his resolve at not making the top grid by giving his all in the second coming home 6th, albeit 3 laps adrift, to take a valueable 3 points. Sadly he was promoted to 6th because in the dying laps fellow BMB driver Scott Wilde’s engine blew up from a certain 5th place. Thankfully he had completed the required 90% distance to be classified in 7th for his first points of 2010. Sadly things also didn’t go so well for debutant Kerkar Abdelaziz whom after a fantastic start retired too with engine failure on lap 3. He did show a lot of promise however for the future.
