BackMarker Brigade Unveil Race Department FPWS Livery & Drivers for 2010

This is the first glimpse of the BackMarker Brigade’s new livery for Race Department’s FPWS series. The car will be driven in both the PRO and Semi Pro divisions and preparations are going well.

The PRO drivers will be Englishman Scott Wilde and Irishman Mark Birney. Wilde brings a wealth of experience from FSR, while Birney ran convincingly in 2009 for a rival team before making the switch to BMB.

The Semi-Pro team will be headed by Craig Johnston and the second seat will be shared between Douglas Simoneli and Matt Maleki. Craig has a wealth of experience from touring cars but this marks his first big league appearance in open wheeled action, whilst Simoneli and Malecki both ran FSR as rookies in 2009.

Team boss Simon Smith was delighted with his 2010 concoction.

“It’s a real mixture of people, all of them relatively new to BackMarker Brigade and all of them a pleasure to know. I’m sure all of them will really enjoy themselves and I think we’ll have a few adventures and points along the way, especially in PRO as Scott and Mark are rapidly improving, while Craig is also coming on leaps and bounds to lead to Semi-Pro team. It’s a fantastic time as we step into the unknown.

However, we will be running without sponsorship for this league as we have asked out sponsors to kindly donate to Help Haiti via our MAP charity we endorse. Thus only my personal webpages will appear on the car.”

The season kicks off in 15 days at Interlagos and the action will be on PSRTV from 6pm GMT. The full driver line up for the league can be found here.

BackMarker Brigade Launches Deletraz GP

Deletraz GP!

BackMarker Brigade has been busy behind the scenes revamping RC Motorsports which fell defunct after Silverstone. An acquisition was performed on Monday and today we can reveal the latest team on the FSR grid – Deletraz GP. Team boss Simon Smith explains the new venture.

“In keeping with BackMarker Brigade, I wanted to honour quite possibly the slowest and inept pay driver in the history of Formula 1 – Jean Dennis Deletraz. If his 3 races in 94/95 he managed to get lapped 10 times in 56 laps on his début, be 12 seconds off the pace in qualifying and stall his car on the racing line for going too slow. For me his is a legend and he will forever hold a place in my BackMarker Brigade heart.”

Simon Smith’s penchant for usual liveries continues to rear its head too.

“I was thinking Neon epileptic fit…”

Deletraz GP has entries for AMA, ADV and PRO and currently has seats available in the latter two categories. The car’s test shakedown was held at Essington and some promo shots are shown below.

BackMarker Brigade Launches BMB09-B!

bmb09b_03 This is the stunning beauty that is the BMB09-B. Loaded with as many colours as you can throw a rainbow at, it could very well throw the opposition into a seizure and thus claim us the winners! Team boss Simon Smith explains why there is a new livery for Turkey.

bmb09b_01“With our first victory at Monte Carlo from our guest racer Dave Carr Smith, I was so delighted it gave me the courage for a remodel. The teams colours are purple and yellow, but I wanted to add to the “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow” feel I’ve had since Monaco. There’s also been a change in sponsership for the team too.

All three liveries for AMA, ADV & PRO will be the same however for 2010 we should be adopting different variations on the same livery. It’s also a pleasure to see different helmets about. Alex and Jordon will use green, myself yellow and Jamie his own helmet design.

We also have new confetti overalls and although they wont be seen much on screen, its great to finally have all the little details done.

I must thank the websites whom continue to show support for us and I look forward to seeing what kind of reaction this new daring livery will bring.”

BackMarker Brigade will be in action this weekend at Turkey and you can catch all of the action on PSRTV!
